The Dare Western Regional offices hold several events every year to bring together our children and foster families from Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties.
The Dare annual picnic is held every August and is attended by over 200 people, including our foster families, children, former foster children, former foster families, staff and guests. We have several activities including bounce houses, face painting, sports games, arts and crafts, music and talent shows and lots of food to make the day fun for all ages.
The Dare bowling party is held every year during December school vacation. All of our children in placement and our foster families’ children have a fun-filled afternoon with unlimited bowling and pizza.
Our Dare holiday party is held every December to celebrate the end of the year, the beginning of the new year and the holidays. All of our foster parents and their families attend. The Dare staff prepares an array of wonderful ethnic dishes as a token of our appreciation to our families.
We hold a foster parent appreciation day every May. We make this event a special day for our foster families, showing our gratitude and appreciation for the hard work they do every day to help the children and adults in placement with them.
Regularly held trainings and support groups are the backbone of our support system for our foster families.
We hold large group trainings each month at a location central to all our Western Region foster families. Our clinical director, Dr. Steve Willis, and other outside experts provide these trainings to our families. Our weekly support groups are held in our Dare offices and are facilitated by the Dare case workers.
We also hold several year-round open house events and orientation, Massachusetts Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (MAPP), trainings for our prospective foster parents. Please check the calendar above for further information.
